Eugenio Derbez criticized Selena Gomez’s performance in ‘Emilia Perez’
It was during her participation in the podcast ‘Let’s talk about cinema with…’, by Gaby Meza, that Eugenio Derbez judged the performance of the interpreter of ‘Lose you to love me’ in ‘Emilia Pérez’.
“Selena Gomez is indefensible. I was there with people who were looking at each other and saying, ‘Wow, what is this? ’ […] I was like, ‘I can’t believe no one is talking about this,’” she said.
“I feel like in Cannes, they gave him an award, and in the United States nobody talks about it because they don’t speak Spanish. They’re not realizing it,” he added.
In response to the accusation, the 32-year-old artist responded via TikTok: “I understand what you’re thinking. I’m sorry. I did the best I could with the time I was given. That doesn’t take away from how much work and heart I put into this film.”
Following this response, the Mexican comedian offered a public apology to Selena : “There is no excuse. I was wrong and I deeply admire your career and your good heart.”
