Following Titanic‘s success, stars such as Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio continued to find success in the industry.
The film, which was released in 1997, was inspired by the historical sinking of the RMS Titanic. The shipwreck was explored against the backdrop of a forbidden romance between Jack (DiCaprio) and Rose (Winslet), whose different social classes created obstacles for their future as a couple.
In Titanic’s final act, Jack saves Rose and ends up dying in the cold water while they await a rescue team. The socialite is able to survive because she has her full body resting on a floating door, while her love interest is mostly in the ocean which leads to hypothermia.
Following the flick’s release, many people have questioned the legitimacy of the death scene — specifically whether the couple could have rested on the door together.

“We took two stunt people who were the same body mass of Kate and Leo and we put sensors all over them and inside them and we put them in ice water and we tested to see whether they could have survived through a variety of methods and the answer was, there was no way they both could have survived,” Cameron shared. “Only one could survive.”
Kate Winslet
After bringing Rose to life in Titanic, Winslet continued to capture people’s attention with roles in Finding Neverland, Collateral Beauty, Revolutionary Road and Wonder Wheel.The England native also appeared on the small screen in projects including Moominvalley and Mare of Easttown.
Winslet, who produced the HBO crime drama, won a Golden Globe, Emmy and Critics’ Choice Award for the role. She went on to star in Avatar: The Way of Water in 2022 and appeared in 2023’s Lee and 2024’s The Regime.
The actress shares daughter Mia (born 2000) with ex Jim Threapleton and son Joe (born in 2004) with ex-husband Sam Mendes. She married Edward Abel Smith in 2012 and welcomed son Bear one year later.
Leonardo DiCaprio
Following his portrayal of Jack, DiCaprio became a household name with roles in Catch Me If You Can, The Aviator, Inception, Django Unchained, The Great Gatsby, The Wolf of Wall Street and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
After receiving seven Academy Award nominations, the actor won in 2016 for The Revenant.The California native is the founder of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting environmental awareness.He dated Camila Morrone from 2017 to 2022 and was subsequently linked to Gigi Hadid after their split. Ahead of her involvement in Titanic, Bates was married to Tony Campisi from 1991 to 1997.In 2003, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and breast cancer in 2012. Bates underwent surgery for both conditions. She is now a cancer survivor.

The Illinois native rose to stardom after starring in Titanic as Rose’s snobby fiancé. He continued to appear in films such as The Believer, Sniper, Zoolander 2, Guest House and many more.Zane also scored TV roles in Charmed, Mad Dogs, The Boys and MacGruber. Outside of the industry, the SAG award nominee is also an abstract expressionist painter.
The actor was married to Lisa Collins from 1989 to 1995. He was engaged to Leonor Varela and Kelly Brook. After a short-lived romance with Jasmina Hdagha, Zane started dating Candice Neil. The two welcomed daughter Ava in 2011 and daughter Gia in 2014. The actor announced their split in 2022.
